Here was the third tutorial and were learning how to do <divs>+container. where we could add images to our background and the page its self. I don't think this was how is supposed to look but i couldn'y figure out how to fix it.

This was the 1st tutorial where we where learning how to edit headings and creating links.

The first critique helped me a lot seeing thing i couldn't see before, and so i got rid of some text, so much unnecessary color, and so much busyness. I also added the little vector circle to balance out with the main article and to direct the eye to the image. I also created emphasis on the word Eliminate, so the erasing of the face would make more sense. The first critique also made me realize that the type behind the face was not needed. I also changes the masthead font to a more taller one because on my previews masthead i had stretched my masthead, wich we are not suppose to do. I also fixed the hand made it softer and lighter and added a bit of shadowing so it looked more like it was over the face.
This was my first attempt but it seemed to busy and the focal point was very hard to find.
I was also having trouble with the "appearance anxiety" text at the bottom and i didn't know what to do with it.

I erased part of the face, and added writing of insecurities.
I tryied different colors for the background but i think the white seem more serious.
I desaturated the images and made emphasis on the eraser by leaving the color, since the main article was about how to get rid of the pressure of being beautiful.

My picture and scanned image brought up to photoshop.

The three images above were my vector images.

This one was my picture

This was my scanned image.

MASTHEADS

For my magazine tittle i wanted to do a simple clean design with a little bit of interest by adding the "brain neurons" at the beginning of the tittle. I think this design would attract an older more sophisticated audience. None of this mastheads ended up working for the actual magazine but it did gave me an idea of what type face i wanted to use.

Magazine Sketches

For my magazine cover I want to show a disease of people being scare of breakfast, I want to show that it is a mind problem, and so i kind of want to draw a brain in illustrator and incorporated some how, i was thinking that instead of a person popping out of the cup, and maybe a fork going through it to show how frustrating a phobia can be.

In this sketch my teacher gave me permission to focus more on the phycological aspect of the magazine rather than food and breakfast as originally thought.
In this sketch i am moving on into something more different, by putting image at the left of my magazine.

Magazine cover questions.

  • My target audience will be adults who are interested in innovating philological stuff.
  • The name of my magazine will be, Mind issues. Phobia has connotations to the human mind, and physiological issues.
  • My masthead will look very scholar and scientific. I want to use very formal fonts not to decorative.
  • In the cover i want to have an image of a brain measuring its weight, and thinking about how horrible waffles are.
  • I will have lines like "What about the 90% we don't use", "Phobia to breakfast?", "Amazing mind tricks inside!", "Einstein brain research inside!"

For my magazine i want to use san serif typefaces mostly, with thin strikes. I also want to use bribrant colors like red, yellow, brown and green.
We did a mind map, to come up with new ideas for our new project, we wrote down what each mag add reminded us of and came up with various words. The class choose waffles and phobia as our subject for our magazine cover.
In here i used the pen tool to crop myself, and the clone tool to remove the model that was behind me, i then use indesign to add text. i also tried to play with contrast brightness and saturation on my self- to make it look like i was just not pasted there.

Final mounted project, i used gray mounting paper because of the predominantly black borders in the designs.
Above I was trying to decide if I should use purple or black for the little code box, I decided to leave it purple to create more unity.I also decided to use grid on my text to not just make it look like text there, it also gave me the feel of the pixel theme because of the kinda of boxy shape grids have.

This was the 2nd critique for the new seed packets including the back, the other two seed packets didn't get any comments. This critique was helpful cause i had bad grammar, and they told me to make a few more letters green (back of seed packet) to balance out the composition more.
This was m first try for the back of my seed packet, but i felt like it needed more color and more hirerchy with the text, In this one i tried doing that with "video game controllers!" by making it red but it seemed too simple, and it wasn't unifying the composition as a whole.
This was my sketch for the back of my seed packet, mostly the text I was going to use.

sketch of new century seed packet controller

In here I started playing with the kerning, tracking, and leading of my text. I also decided to give each seed packet a name. the web page name i use tracking since it was a smaller type, my empashis on my text was the name of the product "playseeds" followed by the name of the seed. I played with hierarchy by using size and boldness. On my third packet i invented the controller, because is the futuristic theme, doesn't exist.

In here, I started working in my other two seed packets,  I originally had thought of making the third seed packet 3D but realize this didn't work because it didn't make the seed packets unite. so I decided to make it pixalated as well, to keep unity in all seed packets. I also had the idea of making the vines glowing to make it look more futuristic. My theme was time theme.

In  here I added more color to the background, it seemed to work, I tried different colors for the background and this one seem to work the best. I also got rid of the second controller because i didn't know where to put it.

Thursday, September 20, 2012

In here I started playing with granients and colors, but it didn't seem to work too much because it
looked to plain and monochromatic, unlike video games that are bright and colorful. I felt like it needed something else at the top to make the composition balance out more.
in here I tried using more color but it was still not working, the controllers and three seem to get lost with the black background, so i had to figure out a way to include contrasting colors to make this design work better.
In here i work with the concept of big pixels as the background, however on the critique they made me realize this was too monochromatic, and gave me the advise that i should make the pixels smaller, and even pixalate the pot.
This was my first sketch for my seed packet project. at first I had imagine evrything in 3D including the pot.

Seed project

For this project i am going to create seed packets that grow your own video game equipment.  I think the video game equipments i am going to use are a controller, maybe an Atari joystick and video game plant. I might use the Super plumber bros font, or  G7 Taito Elevator action font which has a pixel effect. I think the background might be black with bright colors and video game scenes in it. to do this i will use the pen tool, and mesh tool to give my illustrations dimension. I am also going to use basic shapes and maybe the effect gallery.
