sketch of new century seed packet controller

In here I started playing with the kerning, tracking, and leading of my text. I also decided to give each seed packet a name. the web page name i use tracking since it was a smaller type, my empashis on my text was the name of the product "playseeds" followed by the name of the seed. I played with hierarchy by using size and boldness. On my third packet i invented the controller, because is the futuristic theme, doesn't exist.

In here, I started working in my other two seed packets,  I originally had thought of making the third seed packet 3D but realize this didn't work because it didn't make the seed packets unite. so I decided to make it pixalated as well, to keep unity in all seed packets. I also had the idea of making the vines glowing to make it look more futuristic. My theme was time theme.

In  here I added more color to the background, it seemed to work, I tried different colors for the background and this one seem to work the best. I also got rid of the second controller because i didn't know where to put it.

In here I started playing with granients and colors, but it didn't seem to work too much because it
looked to plain and monochromatic, unlike video games that are bright and colorful. I felt like it needed something else at the top to make the composition balance out more.
in here I tried using more color but it was still not working, the controllers and three seem to get lost with the black background, so i had to figure out a way to include contrasting colors to make this design work better.
In here i work with the concept of big pixels as the background, however on the critique they made me realize this was too monochromatic, and gave me the advise that i should make the pixels smaller, and even pixalate the pot.
This was my first sketch for my seed packet project. at first I had imagine evrything in 3D including the pot.

Seed project

For this project i am going to create seed packets that grow your own video game equipment.  I think the video game equipments i am going to use are a controller, maybe an Atari joystick and video game plant. I might use the Super plumber bros font, or  G7 Taito Elevator action font which has a pixel effect. I think the background might be black with bright colors and video game scenes in it. to do this i will use the pen tool, and mesh tool to give my illustrations dimension. I am also going to use basic shapes and maybe the effect gallery.

In the first video they talked about RGB and CMYK. CMYK stands for cyan, magenta, yellow, and black they are mostly fore commercial print. RGB is red green black for web or screen, things that are not going out for print. The difference between a fill and a stroke is that the fill is the area inside a path, and a stroke is the "outline" what surrounds the fill. You can have multiple strokes. Paths are were your artwork travels is a straight line between to points called anchor points. Anything you create in illustrator is a path a "skeleton". Anchor points are joints that hold paths together without them paths don't have a point to start or stop. when you click on an anchor point with the direct selection tool they become active. You can create 2 types of paths open and closed paths. The closed paths are the basic shapes such as square circle etc...and the open paths are the ones which have nothing connecting it the fills are a little weird. To take two separate paths and join them together joint points really close then use the direct selection tool  then object> path> joint or CMD+J. If in-points aren't match up join is not the right thing to do, so you average. You can split paths with scissors tool  that splits paths based on anchor points selected, you can also use the knife tool but is not as precise, after cutting go to isolation mode and move.  With option or alt tool knife is more precise.

Illustrator CS6 Essential Training

In the first video I learned that illustrator is a vector based program, meaning that it is resolution independent; unlike Photoshop that it is resolution dependent  which is limited to the number of pixels of your image.
In Adobe interface he talks about basic things such as the menu bar, which contains menu options and sub-menus (some contain links). The tool panel is at the left hand side broken down into small groups that relate to each other. Below document window there are some useful tools and the work space is in the center of the screen.
The 3rd video shows how to create blue prints using rulers, grids and guides. Guides indicate where artwork is suppose to be. Grids are the small squares and the smart guide allows you to aline objects easily. We also learned that in the window menu is an info panel that tells you where you are at any given time.
The 4rth  video teaches how to hide your art work so that you can access various overlapping elements or see something that's lurking behind an image. We also learn to lock an image to prevent unwanted editing or deletions. To hide you picture just select object an click on the eye icon so it is hidden including its sublayer. To lock simply click next to the eye and object will not be editable.
The 5th video thought us about art boards. you can do this in file >new. there can be multiple art-boards in just one document just like multiple pages. The jump menu takes you to a single art-board you can also create new art boards and even edit the size of them. The next video is about using direct selection and group selection tools, aside from the basic selection tool there is the direct selecion tool it chooses shape or object with no bounding box. When clicking more than once you select the entire group.
Video seven, grouping objects to help you modified multiple objects at one time. make a couple of selections 1st then select object>group and you can also un-group. Direct selection mode is to move only one object in a group you can also use isolation mode.
To re-size art work you simply have to select object and you will see control points around it simply drag it to make object smaller or bigger, while selecting shift your object will stay in proportion. The scale tool can also re-size an object when clicking on the anchor points.
To rotate an object you do art work selection and use control points around the bounding box to rotate with arc arrow. Let go of mouse when you rotate your art work, with shift specify an increment to rotate.
Line up multiple objects and distribute them in multiple directions. Go to control panel window and align there is also lots of distribution options. Aline to art-board based upon size and dimensions of art-board.
