Illustrator CS6 Essential Training

In the first video I learned that illustrator is a vector based program, meaning that it is resolution independent; unlike Photoshop that it is resolution dependent  which is limited to the number of pixels of your image.
In Adobe interface he talks about basic things such as the menu bar, which contains menu options and sub-menus (some contain links). The tool panel is at the left hand side broken down into small groups that relate to each other. Below document window there are some useful tools and the work space is in the center of the screen.
The 3rd video shows how to create blue prints using rulers, grids and guides. Guides indicate where artwork is suppose to be. Grids are the small squares and the smart guide allows you to aline objects easily. We also learned that in the window menu is an info panel that tells you where you are at any given time.
The 4rth  video teaches how to hide your art work so that you can access various overlapping elements or see something that's lurking behind an image. We also learn to lock an image to prevent unwanted editing or deletions. To hide you picture just select object an click on the eye icon so it is hidden including its sublayer. To lock simply click next to the eye and object will not be editable.
The 5th video thought us about art boards. you can do this in file >new. there can be multiple art-boards in just one document just like multiple pages. The jump menu takes you to a single art-board you can also create new art boards and even edit the size of them. The next video is about using direct selection and group selection tools, aside from the basic selection tool there is the direct selecion tool it chooses shape or object with no bounding box. When clicking more than once you select the entire group.
Video seven, grouping objects to help you modified multiple objects at one time. make a couple of selections 1st then select object>group and you can also un-group. Direct selection mode is to move only one object in a group you can also use isolation mode.
To re-size art work you simply have to select object and you will see control points around it simply drag it to make object smaller or bigger, while selecting shift your object will stay in proportion. The scale tool can also re-size an object when clicking on the anchor points.
To rotate an object you do art work selection and use control points around the bounding box to rotate with arc arrow. Let go of mouse when you rotate your art work, with shift specify an increment to rotate.
Line up multiple objects and distribute them in multiple directions. Go to control panel window and align there is also lots of distribution options. Aline to art-board based upon size and dimensions of art-board.
